In a surprising turn of events, Bollywood actors Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat, who were known for their candid remarks about each other following the release of their blockbuster erotic thriller “Murder” in 2004, were recently seen together at a wedding. The duo, who had a public fallout years ago, were spotted posing for the paparazzi, sparking curiosity among fans and media.
In a recent interview with News18, Emraan Hashmi opened up about their past differences and expressed a desire to work with Mallika again.
Reflecting on their younger days, Emraan said, “We were young and stupid at that time. You go through a phase in your life when your decision-making power is so limited and you’re just so impulsive. Some mean things were said by her and some by me. But those are all bygones. We kept all of that aside. It was long back. It was very nice seeing and meeting her. She was very warm and so was I. She’s a co-actor I wish I could have worked again with.”
Discussing their recent encounter at producer Anant Pandit’s daughter’s wedding, Emraan added, “It was very warm and cordial. I saw her after a very long time. I don’t think we had an encounter like this in a long time. I met her a couple of times after the release of ‘Murder’.”
The feud between Emraan and Mallika dates back to the release of their film “Murder” in 2004. The movie, directed by Anurag Basu, was a massive hit, largely due to their sizzling on-screen chemistry.
However, post-release, the actors engaged in public spats, with Emraan even calling Mallika a “bad kisser” on Koffee with Karan season 4 in 2014. He also remarked that he would gift Mallika a ‘dummy’s guide to learn English’ as she was pursuing a career in Hollywood at the time.
Mallika, on her part, reflected on their feud during The Love Laugh Live Show season 3 in 2021, calling it “childish.” She admitted, “The funniest (fight) was with Emraan Hashmi after or during ‘Murder’. We didn’t speak and now I think it was so childish. It was after the film, I think, during promotions or something, we had a misunderstanding. It was so uncalled for and so childish on my part also. I’m no less.”
As Emraan prepares for his upcoming project “Showtime” and Mallika’s latest appearance is in “Pambattam,” fans are hopeful for a possible reunion of the iconic “Murder” duo on screen.
