Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan took centre stage at this year’s International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, engaging in a lighthearted question-and-answer session with filmmaker Karan Johar. The event, co-hosted by Khan and actor Vicky Kaushal, gave fans an entertaining glimpse into the actor’s life and thoughts on his illustrious career.
During the lively exchange, Johar posed an intriguing question about Khan’s living arrangements, asking, “You live in Mannat, a bungalow, but have you ever thought of living in an apartment?” Khan’s response was both humorous and self-assured. “Ho he nahi sakta na, kyuki mere upar koi ho he nahi sakta. Main actors ki ceiling hu (That’s not possible because no one can be above me. I am the ceiling of all actors),” he quipped, prompting laughter and applause from the audience.

As the conversation shifted, Johar inquired about the future of romance in Khan’s life post-retirement. Known as the “King of Romance,” the 58-year-old actor responded with a witty remark: “Actually, romance will retire with me.” The camera then panned to actress Rani Mukerji, a close friend and frequent collaborator, who enthusiastically cheered at his statement.
The dialogue continued with Johar questioning Khan’s self-assessment as a dancer. Khan, ever the charismatic performer, playfully remarked, “Mujhe dancing ki zaroorat he nahi padti, puri film industry mere ungliyon pe nachti hai (I don’t need to dance; the film industry sways to my fingertips),” eliciting another round of applause from the audience.
Shah Rukh Khan’s stellar year in cinema, marked by blockbuster hits like Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, has kept him in the spotlight. Looking ahead, he is set to begin filming his next project, King, directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film, which will also feature his daughter, Suhana Khan, is expected to commence production in January. The project will likely be officially announced with a teaser video on Khan’s birthday, November 2.
The engaging session at IIFA not only highlighted Khan’s playful persona but also offered a glimpse into his enduring legacy as one of Bollywood’s most iconic figures.
