Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon is set to take on her first-ever double role in the upcoming film Do Patti. The romantic thriller, slated for release on October 25, will see Kriti portray two contrasting characters: the sweet and simple Saumya, and her twin, Shailee, who is bold, fun-loving, and known for stealing boyfriends. The film also stars veteran actor Kajol, who will play the role of a cop, and popular television actor Shaheer Sheikh, making his Bollywood debut.

As the anticipation builds for the release, the makers of Do Patti recently dropped a new song titled “Akhiyaan De Kol,” which quickly became a topic of controversy. In the music video, Kriti is seen wearing a red latex catsuit, turning up the glamour. However, many social media users have drawn comparisons between her performance in the song and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s iconic dance in “Crazy Kiya Re” from Dhoom 2 (2006).

Netizens have pointed out similarities between Kriti’s dance moves and Aishwarya’s signature steps from the hit track. Aishwarya’s stylish choreography, glamorous outfits, and sizzling chemistry with Hrithik Roshan made “Crazy Kiya Re” one of the most memorable songs in Bollywood. For many fans, the original is a benchmark that’s hard to top, and Kriti’s version hasn’t impressed everyone.

The internet was quick to criticise Kriti, with one user commenting, “Copied a Pakistani song and copied Aishwarya’s dance. What did she even do herself?” Another remarked, “When Aishwarya orders from Shein,” mocking Kriti’s look in the video. Some users went as far as accusing the actor of harming her career by imitating Aishwarya, with one stating, “She is ruining her own career by copying Aishwarya.”

The trolling didn’t stop at the choreography. Kriti’s performance, particularly her hair flip in the song, was also targeted. One comment read, “That hair flip is cringe.”

Despite the backlash, Do Patti is generating significant buzz. Fans are eager to see how Kriti handles the challenge of playing dual roles, alongside Kajol’s portrayal of a cop, when the film premieres on OTT platforms this Friday.
