Renowned actress Katrina Kaif, celebrated for her candidness, recently reflected on her career and the changing dynamics of Bollywood. On her birthday, we look back at her 2017 interview with Hindustan Times where she opened up about not feeling pressured by time or the influx of new talent in the industry.
Katrina on Competition and Evolution
With a career spanning over two decades, Katrina Kaif has witnessed and adapted to the industry’s evolution. When asked in 2017 if she felt the pressure from emerging new faces, the actress, who debuted in 2003, responded thoughtfully. “Time does not stand still for anyone, and with time comes evolution, and that’s exactly what you should be doing. I can’t—and shouldn’t—think that I am going to rewind myself and play a 21-year-old girl in a short pink miniskirt,” she said.
She acknowledged the industry’s ruthlessness but emphasized the importance of self-focus and personal growth. “It’s a game of survival. Competing with people who are 20-21 would be insanity and illogical. I have to look at it like, this is me and this is my space, and how I can be the best for this role, or how I can improve on what I am doing. That’s honestly what I am looking for and looking to enjoy,” she added.
Vicky Kaushal on Katrina’s Birthday Plans
At a recent promotional event for his upcoming film Bad Newz, Vicky Kaushal, Katrina’s husband, shared their simple birthday plans. “Thank you! It’s a very special day. The plan is to just spend some quality time together because promotions have been ongoing for a long time, and she’s also been traveling,” he said.
Addressing rumors about Katrina’s pregnancy, Kaushal clarified, “The good news that you are talking about, we’ll be very happy to share whenever it happens, but until then, there’s no truth to that, and it’s only speculation.”
