Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal is known for her portrayal of Roshan Daruwala Kaur Sodhi in “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.” She has emerged victorious in a sexual harassment case against the show’s producer, Asit Kumar Modi. The actress disclosed that Asit has been ordered to compensate her with Rs. 5 lakh for the ordeal she endured.

Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal Wins Legal Battle

Following her departure from the show, Jennifer filed an FIR against Asit Modi last year, leading to a legal battle. Speaking to ETimes, Jennifer revealed that Asit owes her a substantial amount totalling around Rs. 25-30 lakh, including compensation for deliberately withholding her payment. The court’s verdict, issued on February 15, 2024, also imposed an additional Rs. 5 lakh on Mr. Modi for harassment.

Challenges and Delays:

Despite the court ruling in her favour, Jennifer expressed dissatisfaction. She wasn’t happy with the delayed enforcement of the compensation. The actress is also disappointed with the absence of punitive measures against all three accused individuals. Sohil Ramani and Jatin Bajaj, also implicated in the case, were not subjected to any penalties according to Jennifer.

While Jennifer acknowledges the recognition of her harassment through the court’s verdict, she believes that she has yet to receive proper justice. The prolonged delay in the legal process and the relatively small compensation amount may deter others from coming forward with similar grievances, according to Jennifer. Despite her relentless pursuit for justice, no significant progress has been made in terms of filing a charge sheet, even after nearly ten months since the FIR was registered in June.

Final Thoughts:

Jennifer’s legal victory serves as a testament to her courage and determination to seek justice in the face of adversity. While the compensation awarded provides some form of validation for her ordeal, Jennifer remains committed to advocating for accountability and fairness within the entertainment industry. Her unwavering resolve underscores the importance of addressing issues of harassment and misconduct to create a safer and more equitable work environment for all.
