In a recent interview, Nushrratt Bharuccha offered a candid glimpse into life behind the spotlight, admitting that she’s rarely formed deep friendships within the film industry. Nushrratt Bharuccha says feeling extremely lonely in Bollywood

In a recent chat with Bollywood Bubble, Nushrratt Bharuccha opened up about life beyond the spotlight and what it feels like when the cameras stop rolling. Known for her standout performances in films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, and the recent Chhori 2, the actress has carved a niche for herself in the industry. Nushrratt shared candidly:

“You know, you asked me this question at a very, very wrong time in my life. So it’s not okay, and it’s lonely… Mere paas ek friend hai, Ishita Raj. Aur uske saath yeh bond banana, it took time. Yeh jo thick friendship waala scene hai, woh industry mein rarely hota hai, to be very honest. But hum dono hain. And pata hai, yeh recent months ki baat hai when I told her, ‘Ishita, who do I have a year? Where are the friends? Where’s the support system? Where is that one person?”

In a particularly emotional moment during the interview, Nushrratt opened up about a recent award she won. While such recognition is often a joyous milestone for any artist, for her, it came with a sense of heartbreak, she had no one to share the victory with. Reflecting on the experience, the actress revealed:

“Memory bhi chali gayi. Kis cheez ke liye mila tha award? Kis cheez ke liye? Ki bhai, baithe baithe aa gaya award… kis cheez ke liye mila tha, yaad nahi hai mujhe. Jabki insaan toh poori zindagi unhi awards, accolades ke peeche bhaagta hai. But mujhe yaad kya hai? Ki main award leke gaadi mein bethi thi, and I was alone. I said to myself, ‘Whom do I tell yaar? I’ve won an award. Kis ke saath karoon? Khushi kis ke saath baantoon?’ It’s time only.”

Nushrratt Bharuccha talks about glamorising loneliness.

Nushrratt took a strong stand against society’s constant demand to appear brave and composed, even when it comes at the expense of one’s mental well-being. The 39-year-old actor criticised the toxic culture that romanticizes solitude, particularly within the entertainment industry, where it’s often treated as a norm or even a badge of strength. She expressed:

“Loneliness ek prevalent functionality system ban gaya hai. Why are we glamorising it? I honestly don’t understand that. I don’t understand why it’s so okay to say, ‘Oh, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t affect me.’ And why is it looked down upon when you pick up the phone and say, ‘Hey, I’m vulnerable. Hey, I would like to spend some time with you. Hey, can I—let’s go on a drive, let’s get ice cream, or let’s do a coffee. I’m not feeling the best.’ Yeah, why? Why? I don’t know.”
