It seems that Alia Bhatt is the current favourite of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the filmmaker wants her to be in all her films. However, this is not possible as despite having a great understating, both Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt have mutually decided against the casting of her in Heera Mandi.
Earlier, Alia Bhatt was offered a special role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next Heera Mandi. Alia and Sanjay have already worked together in Gangubai Kathiawadi and the filmmaker has loved her work in the film. Now, according to the reports Bhansali’s Heera Mandi will now be directed by his former assistant Vibhu Puri and will stream on OTT platform.
The project will be supervised by Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself but he will not be directing the film. The ace director will also be starting shooting for his next Baiju Bawra soon after finishing his current projects. It is said that Alia was supposed to be working in Baiju Bawra and Heera Mandi as well but now both have mutually decided that Alia’s presence is more crucial in Baiju Bawra as compared to Heera Mandi.
It was reported that Heera Mandi will feature 16-20 songs in the film. “SLB has already composed 20-35 songs for Heeramandi, of which he will use 16-20 songs in the series. Three will be semi-classical songs but nothing that the young listener cannot identify with. Heeramandi is not for audiences of the Pakeezah/Umrao Jaan era. SLB has designed it as attuned to today’s youngsters,” said a source close to the series.
