Actor Gulshan Devaiah is set to return to the silver screen with his latest film, Ulajh. The highly anticipated trailer, featuring Janhvi Kapoor, was released on Tuesday, offering fans a sneak peek into Devaiah’s character. Alongside this trailer release, Devaiah engaged with fans through a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session, where he shared candid responses and insights.
During the AMA, Devaiah addressed a variety of fan questions, demonstrating his characteristic honesty and wit. When asked about the possibility of a second season of the critically acclaimed but underrated series Afsos, Devaiah humorously replied, “Bhul jaa (forget it)!”
One fan inquired about which film he would steal from another actor’s filmography. Devaiah unhesitatingly chose Andhadhun, the 2018 thriller directed by Sriram Raghavan and starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, and Radhika Apte.
Responding to a question about performing intimate scenes, Devaiah remarked, “Bahot boring tha, aur abhi bhi bahot boring hai. Sirf tum log ko dekhke maza aata hai (Very boring as it was before and even now. Only you guys like watching them).”
The conversation also touched on his role in Badhaai Do. A fan praised his performance alongside Rajkummar Rao and inquired about the impact of the film, which addressed LGBTQIA+ themes, on Indian cinema. Devaiah expressed optimism, stating, “I never felt that it would hurt my career. And more films will be made like this. A love story is a love story.”
When asked about his initial struggles in the film industry, Devaiah revealed, “I got lucky initially. Good people gave me good opportunities but the real struggle started after that. I had to learn a lot because I knew nothing about the business.”
Devaiah also shared his admiration for actress Sai Pallavi, naming her as an actor he would love to work with.
As Ulajh gears up for its theatrical release on August 2, fans eagerly await to see Devaiah’s performance in this film, which is backed by the makers of Raazi, Badhaai Do, and Talvar. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sudhanshu Saria, the movie also stars Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Tailang, and Adil Hussain in significant roles.
