In a candid conversation on the “People By WTF” podcast with Nikhil Kamath, Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor shared personal insights about his late father, the veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir revealed that Rishi Kapoor often came across as rude to his fans, a trait that deeply disappointed him. “I used to be so disappointed with my father when he denied his fans any opportunity to interact with him. He was rude to them and I don’t want to do that with my fans,” Ranbir expressed.

Ranbir emphasised that this behavior from his father influenced his own approach to fan interactions. He stated that he always makes an effort to be patient and accommodating to those who seek his autograph or a selfie. “If people come to me for autographs or photos, I always oblige, because I have seen the look of disappointment on the faces of my father’s followers,” he explained.

The actor, whose recent film “Animal” achieved commercial success, also discussed the tumultuous relationship he had with his father. While Rishi Kapoor never resorted to shouting or physical discipline, his volatile temperament left a lasting impact on Ranbir. “My father never shouted at us or even raised his hand. However, his temperament around us was volatile, which always scared me,” he shared.

Ranbir confessed that this fear extended to such an extent that he could not even look his father in the eyes. “Whenever he spoke to me, I always looked at the ground. I don’t even know the color of his eyes,” he admitted.

Additionally, Ranbir touched upon his father’s strict financial discipline during his time studying in the United States. “He never gave me an extra dollar while pursuing my education in the United States. When I returned to India, he took away my car, because he wanted me to stay grounded,” he recounted.

Ranbir’s revelations offer a glimpse into the complex dynamics of his relationship with his father and how they shaped his own personality and interactions with his fans.
