Actress Dalljiet Kaur briefly shared and then deleted a heartfelt birthday post dedicated to her estranged husband, Nikhil Patel, on Instagram. The Kenya-based businessman and Kaur were seen in a series of intimate pictures alongside her son Jaydon. The post opened with a candid shot of Patel in a bathtub, followed by images of Kaur’s engagement ring, her mehendi, and tender moments with Jaydon. Wedding snapshots were also part of the album.
In her emotional caption, Kaur reminisced about a surprise birthday celebration she had organized for Patel last year. “Last year, last night, I had gathered all your family members for a surprise dinner at that Asian restaurant in London. Hosting that evening as your wife was exhilarating – though, at that moment, that’s how you introduced me. After dinner, without revealing our destination, we drove to Beaconsfield for your birthday staycation. It had taken me days to finalize the hotel as I wanted it to be a special day for you. It was your first birthday after our marriage, and I was filled with excitement,” Kaur wrote.
The post took a poignant turn as Kaur expressed her current emotional turmoil. “Today, as tears stream down my face, I want to wish you a very happy birthday, Nikhil Patel. Everyone says I should begin healing, but here you are, reopening all my wounds and making them bleed again. I don’t think I’ll ever understand…. you do what you do and The Way You Do It.”
Kaur accused Patel of various hurtful actions, mentioning that he had sent her belongings to a storage house prematurely and erased a wall painting she cherished. She also shared the ongoing struggle with her son Jaydon, who still refers to Patel as “papa.”
The post garnered support from actress Shweta Kawaatra, who commented, “I’m sorry you have to endure this trauma, Dalljiet Kaur. It’s unfortunate to hear from you about these disgraceful ways of responding to you. People’s responses to situations reveal their character.”
Kaur and Patel were married in March 2023 and relocated to Kenya. In February 2024, Kaur returned to India with Jaydon, leading to the couple unfollowing each other on Instagram and deleting numerous posts, which fueled separation rumors. Patel later confirmed the split in an interview with ETimes.
Following the confirmation, Kaur posted and then deleted a wedding video, prompting Patel to issue a “written cease and desist letter.” Kaur was previously married to actor Shalin Bhanot, with whom she co-parents Jaydon. Patel also has two daughters from a prior marriage.
