Bollywood actress Adah Sharma opened up about her experiences with the casting couch in the entertainment industry. When asked if she had ever faced inappropriate advances, Sharma responded with a candid mix of humor and gravity.
“Literally and figuratively, I sat on the floor and chose to not sit on any couch,” she quipped, in an exclusive interview with NDTV.
Sharma likened her approach to such situations to an action movie scene, where quick reflexes are essential. “When someone makes a move, you have a fraction of a second to react, just like in action movies when someone throws a punch. At that point, you have to do what you have to do. You can’t ask someone for their opinion,” she elaborated, highlighting the need for swift decision-making in uncomfortable situations.
The actress also emphasised the significance of having a strong support system to navigate challenges in the industry. “Having a support network is very important, and I’m glad I have a very strong support system,” Sharma said, acknowledging the role of her close-knit circle in helping her through tough times.
Reflecting on her acting career, which began in 2008, Sharma described her journey as a “rollercoaster.” She added, “It feels like I’ve been on a rollercoaster since my debut. The ups and downs used to make me queasy earlier, but now I’ve gotten so used to the ups and downs I feel like I’m walking on stairs.” This statement reflects her evolving perspective on the challenges of her profession and how she has grown accustomed to the unpredictable nature of the film industry.
Adah Sharma has made a mark in Bollywood with performances in films like Hasee Toh Phasee, The Kerala Story, and Selfie. She has also been part of notable projects such as The Holiday and Meet Cute. Looking ahead, Sharma will be seen in upcoming projects The Game of Girgit and Rapchick Reeta, continuing to build her diverse filmography.
With a career spanning over a decade, Sharma’s resilience and ability to adapt have solidified her place in the industry, and her candid reflections offer insight into the challenges faced by actors in Bollywood.
