Cardi B found herself in an awkward yet memorable moment on Friday night when she took the stage at a rally for U.S. Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris. The event, held at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Exposition Center in West Allis, saw the Grammy-winning rapper stepping up to show her support for Harris’s campaign. However, her appearance faced an unexpected hiccup.
As reported by DailyMail, Cardi B was welcomed with loud cheers from the enthusiastic crowd but encountered technical difficulties as she struggled with the teleprompter. Initially pausing for several seconds, she was seen removing her gloves, addressing the audience with a hesitant, “One second guys. One second!” The rapper’s initial words came out haltingly, as she tried to deliver her message. “OK, so I don’t take lightly the call,” she started, only to stop again, admitting, “I’m sorry guys, I’m a little nervous. I’m a little nervous, guys. I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life.”
Cardi B’s speech wasn’t loaded into the teleprompter so she oddly stammers for ninety seconds until someone runs her phone out to her! This is just hilarious! Glancing around the stage, Cardi B appeared to signal her team for help. Injecting humour into the tense moment, she called out, “I need patience over here, patience where are you, girl?” as she waited for support. Her repeated, “Are we ready to make history?” drew an encouraging response from the crowd before a team member finally handed her a phone, which she used to continue her speech.
Once settled, Cardi B shifted to a more serious tone, explaining why she is endorsing Harris. The rapper candidly shared that she had initially planned to skip the upcoming election, a decision she announced earlier, expressing dissatisfaction with the current administration’s international policies. She criticized government spending priorities, noting her frustration with “funding two wars” rather than addressing domestic concerns.
Cardi B then voiced strong support for Harris, who, she said, revitalised her hope in American leadership. “I did not have faith for any candidate until she joined the race and said the things that I wanted to hear,” Cardi B remarked, praising Harris’s authenticity and commitment. “I believe in every word that comes out of her mouth; she’s passionate, she’s compassionate, she shows empathy, and most of all, she is not delusional.”
Cardi B’s spirited speech concluded with an upbeat tone, emphasizing her faith in Harris’s vision and her own excitement to be part of the movement to “make history.”
