‘Beyond Disgusting’, Sharad Kelkar SLAMMED For Playing 46-Year-Old Lover To 19-Year-Old

Notable actor Sharad Kelkar is making his television comeback after eight years. However, instead of excitement, his return has sparked outrage across social media. Known for his deep voice, versatile acting, and powerful screen presence, Kelkar is now facing major backlash for his role in the upcoming TV show Tum Se Tum Tak. Just days after announcing his return, the show’s makers released the promo on March 23, 2025. Rather than generating anticipation, the promo triggered controversy, leading to widespread criticism online.

Internet reacts to Sharad Kelkar’s role choice in his upcoming daily soap

The promo for Tum Se Tum Tak introduces Sharad Kelkar as Arya Vardhan, a 46-year-old, ultra-rich businessman who seems to have everything, except love. Starring opposite him is 19-year-old Niharika Chouksey, who plays a lively, middle-class girl with a mother eager to see her married. Despite their stark differences, fate intertwines their lives, leading to an unconventional romance that crosses both social and generational boundaries. However, the internet is far from pleased with the glaring 27-year age gap.

The moment the promo dropped, social media erupted with criticism. Many were baffled that an actor of Sharad Kelkar’s caliber would take on such a storyline. One user bluntly expressed their discontent in the comments, saying, “Kese apnayega yeh Samaaj Baap Beti ke is anokhe Rishte ko”, and another remarked, “Sharad niharika se bahut bada lag raha hai …it’s like a father-daughter duo. ..it’s like niharika is looking 19 yr old girl and Sharad is looking 40+”.

Sharad Kelkar, a well-known figure in the television industry, was last seen on TV in the 2017 mystery thriller Koi Laut Ke Aaya Hai before making a successful transition into films and OTT. He has delivered notable performances in critically acclaimed projects such as Tanhaji, Bhediya, Laxmii, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, and Srikanth.

However, his return to television with Tum Se Tum Tak has left fans disappointed. The show is facing criticism not only for its casting but also for the message it conveys, as it romanticizes a relationship between a man who believes he is too old for love and a girl young enough to be his daughter. One netizen remarked: “Haye bhagwan….why promote such a thing even! People start normalizing things in the villages.” Comments like “Beyond disgusting” and “Didn’t expect this from him” are flooding the social media feeds, making it clear that the age-gap romance isn’t sitting well with the audience.
