Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan took the spotlight at the 77th Locarno Film Festival, where he engaged in a candid conversation with the festival’s artistic director, Giona A Nazzaro. During the discussion, Shah Rukh reflected on his career, his favorite actors, and shared an amusing anecdote about his son, Aryan Khan, resembling martial arts legend Jackie Chan at birth.
Shah Rukh, who is known for his charismatic presence and versatile acting, revealed that Jackie Chan has always been one of his favorite actors. “If I had to count my favorite actors of all time, Mr. Jackie Chan would be right up there. He’s funny, physically amazing, and acts well. He continues to inspire me,” Shah Rukh said.
He went on to recall the moment Aryan was born, joking that the newborn bore a striking resemblance to Jackie Chan. “When my first son was born, Aryan, I felt he looked like Jackie Chan. You know, when kids are born, they look a bit like (makes facial expression). He looked very Jackie Chan-ish to me,” Shah Rukh shared with a smile. He even admitted to training Aryan in taekwondo, hoping he would grow up to embody Chan’s physical prowess.
The actor also fondly recounted his meeting with Jackie Chan a few years ago in Saudi Arabia, describing him as “sweet and humble” and hinting at a potential collaboration. “If he ever sees the interview, he promised to open a Chinese restaurant in partnership,” Shah Rukh quipped. He also mentioned that his 2011 superhero film Ra.One included multiple tributes to Jackie Chan, as an acknowledgment of his admiration for the iconic actor.
Shah Rukh’s appearance at the festival was particularly momentous as he became the first Indian personality to receive the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera, or Career Leopard, for his lifetime achievements. As he continues to celebrate his illustrious career, fans can look forward to his upcoming film King. Meanwhile, Aryan Khan is set to make his directorial debut with the show Stardom.
