Recently, Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced a yellow alert in the capital city after the sudden surge of Covid-19 variant Omicron. The Govt issued notices to shut schools, colleges, cinemas, and gyms.
As soon as the Delhi Govt announced shutting of the cinema halls, filmmaker and producer Karan Johar took to his social media account and request the Govt against it. Karan Johar wrote on his status, “We urge the Delhi Government to allow cinemas to operate. Cinemas are equipped with a better ability to ensure a hygienic environment while maintaining social distancing norms as compared to other out-of-home settings. @LtGovDelhi @ArvindKejriwal @OfficeOfDyCM #cinemasaresafe
However, Karan Johar’s tweet backfired him as the angry netizens started trolling him for being ‘Insensitive’. As soon as he shared this tweet, in no time Twitterati started trolling Karan Johar. One user shared his tweet and wrote, “This illogical person has 0% capability of releasing his nonsense movies on OTT. Coz he is pretty sure that nobody would spare one’s internet for it. So trying his level best to make it into theatre. @karanjohar.” Another said, “Are you serious while passing this statement?? Why don’t you take your kids and family everyday to cinemas. Are you only worried about your movies not about nations safety. Kuch Acha nhi bol paate aap toh bekaar toh mat bolo.” Another wrote, “Aag lgi hai basti mai.. ye hai Apni masti mai.”
