Bollywood legend issued a public apology after mispronouncing the Marathi word “kachra” in a video he shared on Instagram a few days ago. In a follow-up video posted on Thursday, Bachchan corrected the mistake and expressed his regret over the error.
In the video, the actor addressed his fans and viewers, saying, “Hello, I’m Amitabh Bachchan. A few days ago, I shared a video on raising social awareness stating that I won’t litter. I also said the same thing in Marathi, and my pronunciation in Marathi was a bit incorrect. The word ‘kachra’ in Marathi was mispronounced.” Bachchan explained that his friend and fellow actor, Sudesh Bhosale, informed him of the mispronunciation, prompting him to record the new video with the correct pronunciation.

In addition to his social awareness efforts, Amitabh Bachchan is currently hosting the 16th season of the popular television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). Earlier this month, the veteran actor shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the first day of filming for the new season on his Instagram.
He also posted a message on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Yes back and still no change in routine – the run is on.” On his personal blog, Bachchan opened up about his feelings on returning to the show, admitting that the first day of filming still brings nerves and anticipation. He wrote, “The first day of the 16th season of KBC… and the nerves and the apprehension and the tensions of the changes and the audience being receptive all rolled into one big bag of dhag, dhag, dhak in the region of the dhak dhak.”
Amitabh Bachchan has been the face of Kaun Banega Crorepati since its inception in 2000, with the exception of its third season, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. Despite the years, Bachchan continues to be an enduring and beloved presence on the show.
