Alia Bhatt is currently engrossed in promoting her upcoming film Jigra, where she stars alongside newcomer Vedang Raina. In a recent conversation with actor Jr NTR and filmmaker Karan Johar, Bhatt opened up about her experience working with Vedang on Jigra, in which they portray siblings. The actress had high praise for Vedang, highlighting his commitment and talent, drawing comparisons between him and her Gully Boy co-star, Ranveer Singh.

Alia’s Admiration for Vedang

During the chat, Alia described Vedang as a dedicated and instinctive actor. “Vedang is fabulous. He is amazing. I don’t think he knows how amazing he is,” she said, recounting a key moment on set. “We did a very important scene, where he was crying, and I told him that one good thing is that you cry prettily—and that’s a good thing for a Hindi film hero. He is so hardworking. He is very instinctive, but also comes prepared. He reminded me a lot of Ranveer Singh, and I told him this as well.”

Alia further elaborated on her comparison, emphasizing Vedang’s focus and dedication. “Just the way he is and his dedication—it’s a huge compliment. The focus on the moment, the shot. Of course, he is his own person, but he sings beautifully too. Vasan [Bala] and I would often discuss how he’s actually an old soul. He’s younger than me but has the depth of someone much older. His soul is very deep-rooted and centered. He has a lot of depth in him, which will take him far.”

Vedang’s Rising Career

Vedang Raina made his acting debut in The Archies, a Netflix film directed by Zoya Akhtar, which was released last year. His performance garnered attention, and Jigra marks his next major role.
