In a powerful response to recent rumours about a supposed botched Botox procedure, actor Alia Bhatt took to Instagram Stories on Friday to express her frustration with the media’s portrayal of her appearance. The 31-year-old star, who recently welcomed her daughter Raha, addressed these unfounded claims while highlighting the damaging effects of body shaming.

Bhatt’s note criticised a particular video and the clickbait articles that circulated it, calling the assertions “beyond ridiculous.” She emphasized that while she respects individual choices regarding cosmetic procedures, the commentary surrounding her appearance was baseless and harmful. “To the random video floating around literally claiming I’ve had Botox gone wrong… This is your hypercritical, microscopic judgment of a human face,” she wrote.
The actor pointed out the seriousness of such claims, noting they were made without any evidence. “These are SERIOUS claims being casually thrown out there with zero proof, no confirmation, and absolutely nothing to back it up,” she stated. Bhatt expressed concern over the potential impact on young audiences, questioning the motives behind such sensationalized stories. “Why are you saying this? For clickbait? Attention? Because none of it makes sense,” she added.
Bhatt also addressed the broader societal issues of how women are often judged for their bodies, including during pregnancy. “Let’s take a minute to address the absurd lens through which women are judged and objectified on the internet,” she wrote, highlighting the relentless scrutiny that women face regarding their personal lives and appearances. She urged for a culture of celebration of individuality rather than one of critique, stating that such judgments perpetuate unrealistic standards and lead to feelings of inadequacy.
The actor lamented that much of this harsh judgment originates from women themselves. “We’ve become so accustomed to picking each other apart that it’s almost normalized,” Bhatt remarked, adding that the internet often fuels these narratives with little regard for their impact.
Alia Bhatt has been candid about her experiences with body shaming in the past but typically refrains from responding to criticism in such a public manner. Most recently, she appeared in Vasan Bala’s jailbreak thriller Jigra, which received mixed-to-positive reviews but struggled at the box office.
