Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and actor Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday lauded the Union Budget 2024 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, describing it as “wholesome.” Ranaut specifically highlighted the provisions for flood relief in Himachal Pradesh. “We are very happy with the budget,” she stated. She also shared a photo on Instagram with BJP MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Ravi Kishan, captioning it, “Wholesome budget Parliament budget session.”

In her budget speech in the Lok Sabha, Sitharaman addressed the extensive damage suffered by Himachal Pradesh due to floods last year. “Our government will provide assistance to the state for reconstruction and rehabilitation through multilateral development assistance,” the Finance Minister announced.

Sitharaman emphasized the government’s focus on employment, skilling, MSMEs, and the middle class. She unveiled the Prime Minister’s package, which includes five schemes aimed at facilitating employment and skill development opportunities for 4.1 crore youth over the next five years, backed by a central outlay of Rs two lakh crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised the Union Budget 2024, noting its comprehensive approach to strengthening various segments of society. “I congratulate the citizens on the budget which will take the country to new heights of development. This budget strengthens every section of society. It continues the empowerment of the new middle class, and will lead villages, the poor, and farmers towards prosperity,” Modi said in a video message.

He further highlighted that 25 crore people have risen above poverty in the past decade and that the budget offers numerous new opportunities for youth in education and skill development. “This budget will give new strength to the middle class and includes schemes to empower Dalit and backward classes, ensuring women’s financial participation. MSMEs will see new pathways for development, with a focus on manufacturing and infrastructure that will accelerate financial growth. This budget strengthens employment and self-employment,” Modi added.

The Union Budget 2024, with its diverse initiatives, has garnered positive responses, particularly for its emphasis on economic growth, social welfare, and targeted support for various demographics.
